Organization: ActionAid Arab Region (AAAR)
Duty Station: AAAR Home Office, Amman, Jordan
Number of Enumerators: tentative
Duration: Approximately 7–10 working days per assignment, depending on operational needs
Compensation: 15 JOD per working day
1. Background
ActionAid Arab Region (AAAR) works with local partners across the Arab region to implement development and humanitarian programmes. As part of its commitment to programme quality, accountability, and evidence-based decision-making, AAAR regularly conducts monitoring activities and data collection exercises across its projects.
AAAR is seeking to recruit short-term enumerators based in Jordan to support data collection assignments under different projects and programmes. The recruitment is intended to establish a pool of enumerators who can be engaged as needed for short-term assignments. The nature, duration, and volume of work will vary depending on programme requirements.
2. Purpose of the Assignment
The enumerators will support AAAR’s Programme Quality, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (PQMEAL) Unit in collecting reliable, accurate, and timely data to inform programme monitoring, accountability, and learning.
Assignments may include telephone surveys, Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM), Key Informant Interviews (KIIs), beneficiary feedback surveys, and other monitoring and data collection activities as required.
3. Scope of Work and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the PQMEAL Unit, the enumerators will be responsible for:
- Conducting telephone surveys with project participants and other relevant respondents.
- Conducting Key Informant Interviews (KIIs) and other interviews, as assigned.
- Using data collection tools and questionnaires provided by AAAR, including digital tools where applicable.
- Following the approved methodology, sampling procedures, and interview protocols.
- Recording responses accurately, completely, and objectively.
- Conducting follow-up calls and documenting call outcomes where required.
- Respecting respondents’ informed consent, confidentiality, privacy, and voluntary participation.
- Applying safeguarding, protection, and data protection principles throughout the data collection process.
- Reporting progress, challenges, and any issues encountered during data collection to the designated PQMEAL focal point.
- Meeting agreed daily targets and assignment deadlines while maintaining data quality.
- Participating in briefings and training sessions before each assignment, as required.
The enumerators will not be responsible for developing methodologies, designing data collection tools, analysing data, or preparing reports. These tasks will be managed by AAAR’s PQMEAL Unit.
4. Location and Duration
The work will be conducted from the AAAR home office in Amman, Jordan. Enumerators must be based in Jordan and available to work from the designated office during their assigned working days.
The expected duration is approximately 7–10 working days per assignment, depending on the volume and nature of the data collection required. The actual duration and working schedule will be communicated before each assignment. Engagement will be on a short-term, as-needed basis, and continuous work is not guaranteed.
5. Required Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Be based in Jordan and available to work from AAAR’s office in Amman.
- Have a university degree or be currently enrolled in a relevant university programme; applicants from other academic backgrounds with relevant experience may also be considered.
- Have excellent Arabic communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with diverse respondents.
- Have good English comprehension and communication skills.
- Be comfortable using smartphones, computers, and digital data collection tools.
- Demonstrate strong communication, listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Be detail-oriented, reliable, organised, and able to meet deadlines.
- Be committed to confidentiality, informed consent, safeguarding, and ethical data collection.
- Be available for short-term assignments on relatively short notice.
Previous experience using KoboToolbox, ODK, or similar data collection platforms is an advantage.
6. Compensation
Selected enumerators will receive 15 JOD per working day for the days worked and agreed upon with AAAR.
The expected engagement is 7–10 working days per assignment, equivalent to 105–150 JOD per enumerator for a full assignment of this duration.
Any additional costs, including telephone credit or SIM cards, will be addressed separately by AAAR where applicable and communicated before the assignment begins.
